Asterix gets the party started with new d&b rig

Rental company Asterix, based in the southwestern town of Hubli, Karnataka, has recently upgraded its touring rig with a d&b V-Series speaker system, DPA microphones and Van Damme cables, all purchased from distributor, Ansata.

A recent outing for the equipment was at a high-profile children’s birthday party at Ice Cube Hubli, which featured a giant curved LED wall, a video mapped cake and a pneumatic stage lift to carry the 11-year-old birthday girl 3m from the floor to cut the real cake. The sound system for the event consisted of 26 V8 and V12 line array loudspeakers, four V-Subs and 12 B22 subwoofers in cardioid mode, plus four M4 monitors, all powered by D80 amps, with a digital live console at FOH. Music was provided by a DJ spinning the tunes from Pioneer CDJ 2000NXS decks and DJM-900 DJ mixer.

Asterix also laid on a laser beam show, lighting and special effects using pyrotechnics, haze and smoke machines and a confetti cannon.
